We Share Solar installed one Solar Suitcase on February 27th , 2018 at the A.I.C Children’s Home located in the Mukaa Village of Makueni, Kenya. The suitcase provides light and power for the 120 children and 10 staff at the home. Previously at night, the students and staff had to rely on kerosene lanterns and flashlights, which are costly and unsafe. The Solar Suitcase is used to light the classrooms to increase evening study time, help with meal preparations and add much needed security. It is used to charge teacher cellphones, laptops and headlamps, important for safety and communication. The children’s nighttime choir practice also benefits from the light of the Solar Suitcase!
